Ottawa's AI news, aggregated and summarized daily
VibeNews is a fully automated news platform built by the AI Accelerator Hub, an Algonquin College Applied Research initiative in Ottawa. It pulls from multiple channel sources — the major AI labs alongside Ottawa AI companies and start-ups — and refreshes every day, so a reader who checks in once a day sees what moved without assembling a feed themselves.
Every story carries an AI-written summary and a link back to the original reporting, which means the platform is a way into the source rather than a replacement for it. The same coverage is repackaged for people who prefer to listen or to read in their inbox: a weekly podcast and an email newsletter.
There are no paywalls, no advertising and no user tracking. VibeNews is live now at news.acceleratorhub.ai.

What VibeNews looks like
Ottawa first, then the wider picture
The home page, shown at the top of this page, leads on the AI and technology stories Ottawa should see first, with the organisations being tracked listed across the top — OpenAI and Shopify among them. Local coverage comes first and the wider stories follow, because the international AI news is what gives a local story its context.
Summaries that link back to the source
Each item in the latest coverage carries a full AI-written summary, tagged by source and by category, with a link straight through to the original article. The summary is there to let a reader decide quickly whether a story is worth their time, not to stand in for the reporting.
A searchable archive
Because the platform has been running daily, the back catalogue is the part that compounds: 665 articles across 32 pages at the time of writing. The archive can be searched and narrowed by date range, sort order and category, or by any of the Ottawa companies VibeNews tracks.
Technology
An automated publishing platform
Source feeds are aggregated with RSSHub and processed by a Python serverless backend on AWS Lambda, with DynamoDB storing the articles, feeds and subscribers. AWS Bedrock provides the managed foundation models and Claude Sonnet writes the summaries and the newsletter. The reading interface is a TypeScript React application built with Vite, styled with Tailwind CSS and fetching through TanStack Query, and Cloudflare Turnstile keeps bots off the sign-up form.

VibeNews is designed, built and maintained by Algonquin College students on paid research internships and co-op placements, running on enterprise-grade AWS infrastructure.
